Steve Yépez is an active freelance flutist in Chicago. Being part of a city with such a vast variety in culture, Mr. Yépez gets to experience a wide range of styles and experiences through music and events. During the quarantine in 2020, as the music world came to a pause, The Skyline Duo created Quarantine Recordings in order to keep the joy of music alive. Steve understands how important music is to our lives and seeks every opportunity to share his talent with the world. As an orchestral player, Mr. Yépez has enjoyed playing with groups such as the Chicago Jazz Philharmonic Orchestra and Orbert Davis, the Chicago Summer Opera Theater, Chicago Arts Orchestra, Orchestra NOVA, the Chicago Metropolitan Orchestra and the Lira Ensemble of Chicago. In Los Angeles, he performed with the West Los Angeles Symphony, Burbank Philharmonic, Antelope Valley Symphony and the Beach Cities Symphony Orchestra. For three summers, Mr. Yepez had the opportunity to perform at the Walt Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles as principal and assistant principal flutist in the Idyllwild Festival Orchestra. Mr. Yépez is on faculty at New Music School in Chicago’s Gold Coast.
Mr. Yépez holds a Master of Music Degree from DePaul University and a Bachelor of Music Degree from California State University, Northridge. He has studied with Mary Stolper of the Grant Park Symphony, Catharine Ransom Karoly of the Los Angeles Philharmonic, and Sandy Kipp Iles of California State University, Northridge.
